Amethyst
According to a Greek legend, Amethyst was a beautiful nymph who granted protection to Diana (goddess of the hunt and the moon) against the harassment of Bacchus (god of wine), which turned her into a precious stone. Bacchus, repentant, gave the stone its favorite purple color.
