The tradition of the engagement ring comes from a long time ago. The custom was introduced in the ninth century, by decree of Pope Nicholas I, who determined the use of the ring as mandatory, a way for the bride and groom to publicly assume their commitment.

During the engagement, the bride and groom will wear the rings on the ring finger of the right hand. In the ceremony, the rings pass to the ring finger of the left hand. There is also an alliance model called half alliance (jewelry with diamonds set in only half of the ring). In that case, it should also be worn on the ring finger of the right hand during the engagement and moved to the ring finger of the left hand on the wedding day.

It was the Greeks, discoverers of the laws of magnetism, who ended up influencing the tradition of wearing the wedding ring. It was believed that there was a vein located exactly on the fourth finger of the left hand that would be directly connected to the heart. Using this law to their advantage, lovers began to wear a magnetized iron ring on that finger, so that their hearts would remain attracted to each other for all eternity. Romantic huh? Later, the Romans adopted the tradition, until the validation of the custom by the Vatican.
