The Pink October Movement is celebrated all over the world. The name refers to the color of the ribbon that symbolizes the fight against breast cancer, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis and encouraging the participation of the population, companies and entities.
about the movement
The story began in 1991, in the United States, when the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure (today the largest breast cancer organization in the world) launched the pink ribbon and distributed it among the participants of the 1st Race Komen Race for the Cure, held in New York.
In 1997, some US cities began to celebrate and promote actions aimed at preventing breast cancer, thus giving rise to Pink October.
The action of lighting up monuments, public buildings, bridges, theaters, etc. in pink, later emerged as a way to sensitize the population of cities. Currently, it has already reached the whole world in a beautiful, elegant and feminine way, motivating and uniting people around such a noble cause.
the breast cancer
Estimates released by the National Cancer Institute (INCA) indicate that for the year 2016, 57.960 new cases of breast cancer are expected, with an estimated risk of 56,2 cases per 100 women, being the leading cause of death from cancer in women worldwide.
Everyone should undergo a mammogram annually from the age of 40, as this is the best way to detect the disease early. After all, if detected early, the chances of cure reach 95%.
ArtOuro & Gemas: we join!
This month ArtOuro & Gemas joins the Pink October Campaign, motivated to help its clients raise awareness about the importance of prevention and early diagnosis.
Let's join together in this fight to warn men and women about the risks, diagnosis and treatments. Men and women yes, because although this is the most common type among women, men can also have it.
We are of all colors! And throughout the month of October, we will run a colorful campaign for the already traditional Pink October. They are pieces that represent each of the colors on sale!
So, girls, did you like it? May the month of October be precious for all women to become increasingly aware of the importance of taking care of themselves!
