March is becoming a very active month to reinforce our desires and actions for a better country, on the 8th we celebrate International Women's Day marked with several peaceful demonstrations throughout Brazil, on the 15th we celebrate World Consumer Day, and on the 18th now It's Brazilian Consumer Day!

In respect and transparency with ArtOuro's customers, we prepared a post clarifying what the consumer's rights are when buying jewelry on the internet.

Online shopping has been increasing considerably each year, as has the number of people who prefer the convenience of consuming products and services without leaving home. There are few who still have some kind of resistance to shopping online, especially jewelry. See that your rights extend to any purchase channel:

What is the deadline for exchanging and returning jewelry purchased on the internet?

Anyone who wants to buy jewelry on the internet can buy it without fear, as consumer rights are protected by the Consumer Defense Code. In its article 49, it states that the customer who purchases any product outside a commercial establishment, has up to 7 days from the signature or receipt of the item or service, to withdraw from the purchase. This is one of the consumer rights that any store, including jewelry stores, must respect!

This can be done for reasons of regret, because the jewelry is not suitable for the user (such as size, for example), because it is different from what was offered on the site, because it came with a defect, or for any other reason that cannot be configured. as bad faith.

But attention: the jewels can only be returned if they have not been used and upon presentation of the guarantee certificate.

What if a piece of jewelry bought on the internet was custom-made?

When a jewel is made to measure (or with another type of exclusivity) and purchased on the internet, there is no possibility of returning it, as it was created outside the company's sales standards. In cases of custom-made parts, it will only be possible to exchange them if they have a manufacturing defect.

And when there is a need for reimbursement?

It is one of the consumer's rights to have the amounts paid refunded in the total amount of the returned products. Some companies include in this sum the payment for shipping, but in relation to this, each case will be investigated individually, according to the reason for returning the jewel.

The Consumer Defense Code states that payment must be made immediately, with updated monetary values. Some companies that have specific product exchange and return policies, developed based on the code, refund the money using the payment method chosen at the time of purchase. This is just not done when the jewelry has clear signs of misuse.

And how is the jewelry returned?

When there is a need to return a piece of jewelry purchased on the internet, companies that are aware of consumer rights allow the piece to be picked up at home by the Post Office, or delivered to any Post Office that is closer to the customer.

Now that you know what the consumer's rights are when buying jewelry on the internet, don't worry about purchasing beautiful pieces in 18K gold and with the most beautiful Brazilian gems.

  1. Thanks for the information, I bought a jewel and it was fake, now it's in court, for not fulfilling the agreement, I want moral damages because 2 years have passed. Does this loss and moral damage proceed? Because the consumer has rights.

    • Hello Maria Luisa, yes, it is your right to appeal, you are entitled to material and moral damages due. After all, selling a fake product with a description inconsistent with the truth is a crime. Always have a lawyer by your side and continue to follow your process. Good luck!
