Today we are going to talk about Brazilian quartz: this multicolored crystal is easily found throughout Brazil, but specifically and especially in the states of Minas Gerais, Goiás and Bahia its abundance is greater, because that is where the largest deposits are located. But why are some jewels so attractive when combined with stones, and quartz in particular? What makes quartz a special gem? Let's explain everything to you!
the quartz
It is the most common mineral and can be present in many types of rocks, with the characteristic of being crystalline. Composed of Silicon Dioxide (SiO2), it is very resistant to chemical, biological and mechanical processes, which result in the wear and tear and decomposition of rocks. Quartz has a lot of stability because it is the last mineral to be formed in the cooling of magma.
Gross and aggregate value
When extracted directly from the rocks, quartz in its raw state does not have as much value commercial. After going through a gamma radiation and cutting process, this beautiful stone is worth up to 300% more!
gamma radiation
Gamma radiation is a beneficial process for the stone. It disorganizes the atoms that are organized in the atomic layer, and interferes with the crystallinity of the stone. This process changes the optical and physical properties of the crystal, causing it to reflect or absorb other types of visible light waves.
In other words, after going through gamma radiation, the crystal that before had the slightest attraction becomes much brighter and clearer, and consequently becomes much more valued.
But it is worth mentioning that not all quartz will have a positive result once subjected to radiation. Everything will depend on the chemical composition of the mineral, the amount of impurities found in it (such as iron, aluminum, potassium) and where it was formed.
Despite all this radiation process, there is no cause for concern: quartz is not radioactive. Such a process only interferes with the electrons, and not with the nucleus of the atoms. Therefore, they do not form radionuclides, not making them radioactive. You can use it without fear: this process accelerates the natural effect of reaching its most crystalline state!
Quartz with jewels: a great combination!
Quartz, being crystalline, enhances and provides the shine of jewelry when the piece is made together, for example, with gold, silver or plated.
Because it is multicolored, it can optimize or change its color during the radiation process. The colors can vary from the colorless crystal of the rock to the violet of the amethysts.
An important point to emphasize is that the higher the quality, the greater the value: the better, the more expensive. In the case of quartz, the most valuable is amethyst.
Meaning
All stones have energy properties, and it would not be different with quartz. Widely used in graduation rings in geography, literature, history, tourism and pedagogy courses. Some believe it to be the victory stone, and that it results in physical and mental balance. It is also considered the stone of love, but in the case of this belief, it is best win a jewel with rose quartz or amethyst, after all, love is not bought, it is received!
